Sometimes, people also suffer from minor to major oral ulcers. These are commonly due to
viral infection, bacterial or fungal infection, sharpness of tooth/teeth or prosthesis, some habits e.g. addiction to tobacco, alcohol and others, associated with some skin disorders, faulty brushing technique, excessive pressure during tongue cleaning, allergy from dentifrices, ill-fitting dentures, and other causes, etc.
These ulcers are very painful, making eating difficult. Patients have the problem with excessive salivation.
Treatment depends on the source/cause(s). Sometimes, intraoral tissue examination or biopsy becomes necessary to determine the cause(s). Medication(s) is/are prescribed accordingly.
